Introduction
to the School
The
school is a short walk from the town centre and the sea front.
Its premises are in two parts. The building houses three classrooms,
a reading room, ICT suite, school offices and the hall which we
use for a variety of activities: Assemblies, P.E., Drama, Dance
etc. An extension to the original building introduced a classroom
specifically for our Reception class. We have an extensive outdoor
play area, school yard, grassed area and nature garden. We make
good use of local facilities, including the Leisure Centre and
swimming pool, rugby football pitches.
The
school recently built an extensive decked area designated for
our youngest children during playtime. Two outside activity trails
can be found: a tyre trail and an adventure trail. Soon to come
will be a second decked area located in our conservation garden
which will allow 'outside classes' and workshops to be held (weather
permitting). From this area the Panoramic views of LLanbadarn
Fawr and the Ystwyth Valley can be seen.
The
school is organised on a class basis with one teacher mainly responsible
for each class; all are mixed ability classes. We identify children
with any special educational needs and cater for their needs in
the normal classroom situation in accordance with our SEN policy.
However there is provision for some teaching in smaller groups
withdrawn from normal classes, and further professional advice
may be sought.
"There
is a good relationship between the school and the community. Pupils
play a prominent part in local events and celebrations. There
are also a good links with other primary schools and secondary
schools".
